Meet the Trainer

This Learning Disabilities and Autism webinar will be delivered by a lived experience practitioner and trainer who will share their insights with you.

Andy is a late-diagnosed Autistic person who has worked on the development of and delivery of a number of different Autism training sessions. He joined 3Spirit approximately 4 years ago as an expert by experience and has progressed to undertake his training qualification and is now part of the Autism training team. He provides a unique insight into his life as an Autistic adult.

Training Learning Outcomes

• Define the terms ‘learning disability’ and ‘intellectual disability’
• Describe the difference between ‘acquired brain injury’, ‘intellectual disability’ and ‘autism’
• Explain how to adapt communication appropriately to support autistic people
• Describe labels and common myths and how these may impact on own practice
• Describe a range of common health conditions and their potential impact on the individual
• Identify common mental health conditions and explain why they can be overlooked in autistic people

Delivery Method

This course will be delivered as a live interactive webinar, over the Zoom platform. It will be delivered over two hours. This is a cost-effective and quality focused alternative to e-learning, which enables direct interaction with the trainer and Q&A with a sector expert. The webinar will include a variety of activities, including interactive whiteboards, polls, case studies, and chat activities.

Hear what our learners had said…

“I attended the Autism and Learning Disabillity training course with Andy and I found this to be a very interesting and a very helpful course. I have put to use what I learned already today with an Autistic patient whilst on duty. I found it personally helpful. I just wanted to feedback how helpful Andy was and for giving me a better insight.”
